“That’s #sheastadium!” When I was in college on the East Coast 30 years ago, I went to Shea Stadium to see a baseball game. As I walked in, the unmistakable aroma of slightly burnt pretzel hit me! In the 30 years since, there have been times that I get that same smell in a sample of wine. It’s always associated with barrel aromas, a lot of toasty oak, and this happened the other day while tasting through @lineagewine samples. What’s the last thing you got in a glass of wine that took you way back? #winequestions @skwinery @ragbagwineworks
One of the great things about the Livermore Valley, from a wine growing standpoint, is the wind that we get here in the afternoon. Those winds give us balanced fruit, which leads to great wines. This wind today, though, is a little menacing. And with the dark clouds in the background and the strange humid heat that’s come up in the last hour or so, gets you thinking… #livermorewinecountry #earthquakeweather
